About Us

Simmons Law, LLC was founded in 2016 after Attorney Alexis Simmons left the world of legal aid to start a private practice that catered to similar clients: those who may not qualify for legal aid, but cannot pay a large retainer that most firms require.

 

Attorney Simmons is a family law attorney, Guardian ad litem, and mediator practicing in Rockford, Illinois. She is the Chair of the Family and Child Law Sections of the Winnebago County Bar Association and a member of the Mayor’s Office of Domestic and Community Violence Prevention Task Force. Attorney Simmons also serves as Secretary of the Board of Directors for Circles of Learning, a non-profit daycare, and donates her time representing Children’s Safe Harbor, a no-cost supervised parenting time service. Fluent in Spanish, Alexis is committed to providing compassionate, inclusive legal representation to all clients, with a particular focus on vulnerable populations. In her free time, Attorney Simmons enjoys playing soccer, lifting weights, and baking cookies. She also enjoys traveling and spending time with her two young children, as well as singing with the Nielson Chorale for the annual Holiday Pops Concert.

Attorney Brooke Zamora is an associate at Simmons Law, LLC and joined the firm in 2023. Attorney Zamora focuses on family law and has experience handling all aspects of divorce and family cases. Attorney Zamora also has experience in civil litigation from her time as an Attorney for the City of Rockford handling administrative code hearings and litigation of blighted properties. Attorney Zamora is a member of the Winnebago County Bar Association. She also is a member of the Alumni Council at Northern Illinois University College of Law and works with prospective and current students at the College of Law. Attorney Zamora is also an artist and enjoys spending time making art and traveling with her family.
